Tech-splanation!
You bring it in we'll explain how to use it! Do you have a question about your smartphone, tablet, or other electronic device? Need help accessing library resources? Bring your device and questions to a librarian, we can help!
A drop-in style technology help program was already in place at several branches when I started at MPL. I adopted the idea to offer it at Center Street since I regularly encountered patrons who needed significant computer/other device assistance. I decided to offer Tech-splanations on the first and third Thursdays of the month (11:00 am-12:30 pm) starting in January 2023.
Attendance was sporadic, with most Tech-splanations passing without a single patron dropping in. Once again, I think the scheduled nature of the program seemed to be a deterrent. People needing help were more likely to come at random as suited their schedule rather than come at a set time.
I was determined to offer the program for a full year before reassessing. Sometimes programs need time to settle in and gain an audience.
