Young Adult Book Club for Adults
The YA Book Club for Adults reads newer young adult books across all genres. Join us the 2nd Monday of each month at 6 pm to discuss the latest pick.
When the Pop Genre book club was looking to offer another genre at a branch location, that seemed like the perfect opportunity to start a book club at Center Street. I wanted something that would have broad appeal and pull in participants from the neighborhood and potentially beyond, which is why I picked YA books. While YA is a category and not a genre, they offer the opportunity to focus on authors of color and complex stories featuring accessible writing styles that a wide variety of individuals may enjoy.

An alternative genre to offer at Center Street would be urban fiction; however I don't believe that I am the appropriate person to facilitate such a book club on my own. If the potential came up to partner with someone else, a local community organization or a Black librarian, to offer an urban fiction book club, I would happily do so.
